On behalf of the National Indian Youth Council (NIYC) Board of Directors

"Welcome to our web-site!"

Here you will find who our Board members are, brief history of activities, current programs and events, and an overview of NIYC historical records recently archived at the Center for Southwest Research, Zimmerman Library - University of New Mexico.

In 2001 NIYC celebrated its 40th anniversary as America's oldest American Indian owned and operated organization. Dating back to the 1960's, when a group of American Indian students formed and incorporated NIYC in Gallup, New Mexico, we have championed and advocated for the rights of all Native Americans: treaty rights, tribal rights of sovereignty, freedom from exploitation of American Indian resources, and access to guaranteed governmental entitlement to health care, employment training, and education.

We hope you find our web-site informative and enlightening. We will continue to update our site with the latest information on our activities, so check again.

Thank you,

Cecelia Belone, NIYC Board President
