The National Indian Youth Council, Inc. (NIYC) was founded in 1961 in Gallup, New Mexico, it is the second oldest national Indian organization and is Indian conceived, owned and operated. NIYC has thousands of members worldwide.

NIYC's major funding sources include the Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, Workforce Investment Act, Title I: Section 166 - Division of Indian and Native American Programs and private donations.

Additional funding involves fundraising, direct mail, and grants.

NIYC is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, which supports various projects for Native Americans locally and nationally.

To provide and ensure that every Native American person has an equal opportunity to participate, excel and become a viable member and asset to his/her community. By providing access to education, health care, social service, employment, housing, leadership in government and economic development this will insure their dignity and self-respect.
